What a horror ! We experienced the fall live and then EVERYTHING stops. But the cycling helmet met its goal ! When in the USA, the stages of the Tour de France are punctuated every 8 minutes by advertising breaks where it is the falls of the riders who are supposed to invite you to watch the rest, we, it chills us…
April 18, 2024 on the Tour of the Alps
Chris Harper (Jayco Alula team on cycling helmet Giant) chasing Simon Carr (Team EF Education-EasyPost on Cannondale) crashes less than 25km from the finish. He is then at 19″ (the peloton is at 46″). He was violently stopped by a lamppost at more than 40 km/h by a head impact on his helmeted head. Thankfully, he’s fine. The next day, he communicated on video with the famous « more fear than harm ». WHEW !
The helmet that saved Chris Harper ?
After our helmet test, we eluded their effectiveness in case of a fall, (we don’t have the tools for it). However, we weren’t asking for the Pros to fall ! As it turns out, Harper had the GIANT Rev Pro helmet in MIPS configuration. It doesn’t matter what condition the helmet is in after the impact, it’s Chris (29 years old) who was saved by this important equipment. So we looked into it, hence this E-Book.

Juan Pedro LOPEZ PEREZ (Lidl/Trek) won the event and a great performance by the AG2R Decathlon but we have already presented their equipment. And then no UAE or VISMA registered.
