HELMET TESTS 2024

DEADLINE OF OUR HELMET TESTS !

Between our first issue and the helmet tests, we observed a significant delay, which is why :

THE « RIGHT » SIZE

To perform proper helmet testing, we ran into a problem. Our Limar and Abus (in « M ») were too small. It is not easy to say good things about them and it would have been too dishonest to denigrate them for the sake of a quick publication. So we got the Limar during the X-Over event of the Belgian Cycling Factory and ABUS sent us the Game Changer 2.0 in gold (we were right to ask) both in « L ». And EVERYTHING changes!

AERATION AND VENTILATION

Our repeated helmet tests reveal real differences (we have had time to check). Better versus worse ? No ! The helmet with fewer vents is more aerodynamic and corresponds to a practice covering 3 seasons. The most airy is definitely intended for summer (and the occasional heat wave).

END OF THE PRESENTATIONS

2 helmets had escaped the presentation of the E-Book #42: the MET Manta (MIPS at €260) and the SH+ Shalimar (at €129). So we complete this E-Book with these 2 other models.

HELMET TESTS

A simple change of size and everything became fair! Finally, at our 58 cm cranial device (out of 2 testers), the static opinion changed immediately. All tested in winter several times, there were systematically 2 reflexes: Too airy Ok (Thanks guys!) You’ll try again at 35°! But they’re right because we had our own idea (by trying them out beforehand).

A WINTER HELMET AND A SUMMER HELMET ?

It’s like shoes, the ideal is to have 2 models. Knowing that in summer the more ventilation is lifesaving, in winter it’s the opposite. Knowing that less vents is more aerodynamic, you have a better understanding of the helmets of time trial. In the end (and as is often the case), it depends on everyone’s sensitivities.

LOOK !

Whoever our tester is (myself included), we find ourselves more « beautiful » with this or that brand. So it boils down to that ? More and more… As for saddles, brands have comfort standards linked to an anatomical average of samples and offer you a second option (if you’re not in the 2, it’s your fault!). There was a time when we put up with it. From now on, you miss a sale, gentlemen ! (That said, they get it)

GOOD SURPRISES ?

You will discover them in conclusion 😉.
